Jacob Sakil is the new young mayor 2009

The 2009 Young Mayor of Lewisham is Jacob Sakil

Congratulations to Jacob, who has just been elected as the sixth Young Mayor of Lewisham! Jacob is a student at Sedgehill School and has been a member of the Young Advisors for several years. An incredible 52.3% of young people in the borough (3% more than last year) voted in the election and made their choice from the fifteen candidates standing.


Jacob, who replaces the outgoing Young Mayor Miguel Gutierrez Astudillo, said he wanted to really 'make a difference' for young people and make people see them from a different perspective.

Lola Mustapha was elected as Deputy Young Mayor.
