Meet The Advisors

Luziane Tchiegue-Nouta: Started in October 2006, Age 18.

Hello, I was elected Deputy Young Mayor in 2006. When I first started I underestimated the power and influence the Young Mayor, Deputy Young Mayor and Young Advisors had in influencing policies and making decisions. As time went by I realised that the Young Mayor and Cabinet were not a tokenistic group but a group of enthusiastic young people who have been given a chance to make a difference. Three and a half years later I'm still a committed Young Advisor who enjoys making a difference.

I started Young Advisors in September after I ran for Young Mayor. I stayed apart of the Young Mayor Scheme because I want to play a part in Lewisham's Youth Democracy, I also feel that young peoples voices need to be heard as our ideas are valid and important. I am passionate about representing young people in Lewisham and I feel Young Advisors is the best way to do that.

Hi, I go to Crossways Sixth Form. I became a Young Advisor so I could get my voice and views heard and so I could make a difference in Lewisham. Recently I chaired the YCP, this experience inspired me and made me feel that I can succeed in life. After this I would like to stand for Young Mayor 2010 as I want to make a difference in Lewisham.

I currently attend Haberdasher Askes Hatcham College and I decided to get involved with the Young Mayor and Young Advisors scheme after many conversations with my friends about why I decided not to run for Young Mayor. I personally decided to take it upon myself to spread the word of what of what the Young Mayor was actually doing for the borough of Lewisham. As a member of Lewisham Young Advisors I have been able to get involved in Parliamentary outreach events, the planning of a youth centre in Sydenham and help to organise a talent showcase.

I joined the Young Advisors through the N.E.E.T programme (not in Education, Employment or Training). At first I came through on this course, now I am a volunteer on the N.E.E.T course. I joined Young Advisors because I really want young people's views and points heard and I feel through the Young Advisors I can achieve that. I helped with the Block Party Project which was a part of Justin's budget. I went to different areas such as Honor Oak Estate and helped to set up workshops and games which went really well  because everyone in the area turned up, got involved, and had fun! Now I can't wait to take part in another Young Advisor Project!

Hi, I'm the youngest advisor in the group and I attend Bonus Pastor Catholic College. I joined to be a Young Advisor to gain more confidence and to help young people in Lewisham. I am also part of the My Place group, which is a group that is currently in the process of using funds received to build a state of the art youth centre in Sydenham. As I keep going to the meetings I feel settled and I'm still enjoying it.

I was introduce to the Young Mayor and Young Advisors through Malcolm Ball (Advisor to the Young Mayor), through the youth club I was attending. I have had the opportunity to help out with different organisations and improve my community.

I became a Young Avisor to the Young Mayor after I did my work experience placement working with them. During my time as a Young Advisor I have had the opportunity to represent the group in another borough called Merton, to talk about the work we do and advise them as they where interested in having a Young Mayor in their area. I have learned that young people have a big say in what happens in their community of Lewisham.

I decided to join the Young Mayor's organisation because I was fed up with the lack of advertisement of facilities for young people. I wanted to join an organisation that had people of a similar mind set, which is to encourage and empower young people for the future!

I attend Prendergast Ladywell Fields College. I really enjoy being a Young Advisor because of the direct involvement we have with the decision making process in Lewisham. I've taken part in many projects that have benefited young people across the borough of Lewisham.

I joined the Young Advisors because I wanted to be more involved in the Young Mayor's decisions. I have previously been involved with other projects around the borough. My achievements include being in the newspaper for a 'Brighter Future' project and also receiving the 'Young Involvement Award' given to myself and my group by Sir Steve Bullock (Mayor of Lewisham).
